Cultural districts – internationally
cooperation
About the project
The project takes its starting point in the Leader area's strategy and the focus area called ”Attractive and dynamic natural and cultural environments.” The purpose of this focus area is: ”The development of a destination for all strengthens both the local population's opportunities and increases the attractiveness for everyone regardless of ability. Today, there is a demand for the need to both document and highlight, for example, building traditions, lifestyles, landmarks, flora, fauna, and history through various types of preservation and storytelling projects.” This project aims to facilitate collaboration to achieve this.
The target group is those who engage in what we call creative industries. By this, we mean the entire spectrum from artistic professions, crafts, food crafts, and similar, to the creative activities that exist in community life, such as village plays and bringing places to life through storytelling. Cooperation partners are found in Finland and Italy.
LAG board's justification
LAG prioritizes this project, which LAG itself initiated and developed. There is a need for development and collaboration around nature, culture, and creativity, and to find new forms for both collaboration and making cultural heritage accessible to visitors through marketing, and to facilitate the sale of services, which in turn can create new businesses and employment. In collaboration with other countries, we explore opportunities in the concept of eco-museum.
