Berg Municipality has for some time now invested in collaboration between fishing management areas and marketing the municipality as a fishing destination. Today there is a joint fishing card for the entire municipality as well as recorded fishing programs that have been broadcast on TV. However, there has been a lack of a coordinated effort to develop fishing tourism in Berg.

The municipality now wants to jointly with fishing management areas and entrepreneurs fully invest in creating a well-known Fishing Destination Berg. This will be done through marketing in various forms; development and implementation of training for local fishing guides; developing packages and offers in collaboration with FVO, guides, and businesses.

LAG board's justification

LAG chooses to prioritize this project, which constitutes a large part of a larger collective investment to further strengthen Berg as a fishing destination. The project builds on previous investments and works in symbiosis with investments that exist within a sister project funded by rural development funds. The project is granted within the framework of the intervention area Attractive and dynamic nature and cultural environments, where it is expected to contribute to the goals. The hope is that the project will both create more jobs, create new products and services related to fishing, and contribute to the area's attractiveness and accessibility for residents and visitors.
