Love path

About the project

The purpose of the project is to renovate and upgrade a beloved old hiking trail so that it becomes accessible to a wide audience: hikers, training groups, locals, and fishermen. The trail will also serve as a natural connection to other existing trails. Through the project, Åsarna's offerings and attractiveness will be broadened, which is crucial for the service companies in Åsarna to develop and improve their services, which in turn benefits visitors and residents in the area. The aim is also to inform about the historical timber floating and its significance for the development of forestry in the interior and for the forest industry, a part of history that is otherwise on the verge of being forgotten.

In addition to renovating the path and enabling more people to utilize the training and recreational opportunities offered, physical activities for the elderly in Åsarna will be organized. The path should be of such quality that walking with a walker can take place. Long-term effects expected from the investment are a higher quality in tourist products (fishing, cycling, hiking), greater accessibility, and the possibility of multiple activities occurring simultaneously along the path.

LAG board's justification

LAG chooses to prioritize this project because it is expected to lead to the goals within the intervention area Attractive and Dynamic Nature and Cultural Environments. This trail is a key to connecting to existing trails and, due to the way it is designed, it works for several different uses, both summer and winter. The Love Trail, with its historical reflection on the timber culture, broadens Åsarna's offerings as a destination, and is expected to lead to increased job opportunities for the village's entrepreneurs.
