Forbonde-
the race

About the project

ForbondeLoppet takes us from the start 15.5 miles in Vauldalen (Riksgränsen) down to Brekken, around Brekkfjorden, Glåmos, down to Röros, to turn back to Funäsdalen and the finish in Ramundberget. The route follows the old trade route that the Forbonders traveled by horse. With this race, we want to recreate old history and therefore the race is named ForbondeLoppet. Events like this extend the season and increase the number of activities in the area. For the road race, we aim during the project period to lay the foundation for new employment in the long term. Volunteers are trained in sustainability thinking primarily regarding waste management and minimized use of vehicles. We strive to create a sense of community for all involved, both volunteers and trained, and strengthen the group and engagement around the competition. Furthermore, this race will increase collaboration between businesses, associations, and destinations on both sides of the border. The project team consists of representatives from the following: Fjällturen AB, Funäsdalens IF, and Destination Funäsfjällen.

LAG board's justification

The LAG decides to prioritize this project, which is characterized by passionate entrepreneurship in collaboration, in accordance with one of the Leader area's focus areas. The project leads not only to an event that elevates the village but also allows cyclists from all over Sweden to experience Sweden's most beautiful cycling race. The project highlights local culture and history and is cross-border both through its collaboration between different types of actors and with its cooperation across the border to Norway. Additionally, jobs are created in the village both in the association life and in businesses.
