At various workshops conducted in 2022, young people responded that they want to engage and be involved in influencing the development of rural areas, but that they are rarely asked. They express that they want to influence development in order to be able to stay and have the opportunity to develop and grow themselves. But they want to do it based on their own conditions. It is important to capture this clear signal that young people in our leader area want to engage. Not least in light of national reports showing that young people generally have a bleak outlook for the future, while feeling that they cannot influence their own or society's future.

LAG board's justification

LAG board's motivation: The LAG board prioritizes the feasibility study as it will investigate how young people can become more engaged in Leader projects in the future and create opportunities for them to run their own projects that contribute to the sustainable development of the rural areas in Åre, Krokom, Östersund, Berg, and Härjedalen municipalities.
