Preliminary study on the goat industry in Jämtland

The feasibility study will inventory the area's existing and prospective goat farmers, who will have the opportunity to share what they need to develop the goat industry. The needs will be compiled into three action plans that encompass the development of both the production of the cellar-aged goat cheese and ”protected designation of origin” as well as the goat industry in Jämtland County.

The purpose of the feasibility study is to eventually implement activities that contribute to a viable goat industry with more active goat farmers producing the unique cellar-aged goat cheese and to a rejuvenation of goat cheese producers. The idea is also to anchor and strengthen cooperation with, among others, the Swedish Board of Agriculture, the County Administrative Board, LRF, Eldrimner, the Agricultural Society, and Sweden's Farm Dairy Producers.
