Innovative transport solutions – Pre-study
About the project
In this project, named Pre-study: Innovative transport solutions based on Röjan station, the aim is to investigate positive effects of a differently organized public transport system. Rätansbygden is directly connected to Sweden's third largest ski area – Klövsjö/Vemdalen. An area with significant development plans, where soon there will be around 20,000 tourist beds with all the potential synergy effects for surrounding communities. At the station in Röjan, buses meet for further transport of travelers to most of the destination's facilities. The small station community is, in other words, now the point of arrival for train travelers to the Vemdalen destination.
This tourist transport system should be able to be further developed to also serve other local transport needs in the form of commuting, service trips, and
recreational trips in this distinctly rural area.
Project content – Inventory of the circle of potential stakeholders (entrepreneurs, associations, and other organizations) for continued acquisition of expertise. – Inventory of needs/interests for collective transport in the project area through interviews with key persons and organizations. – Pre-study of possible transport solutions, i.e., identify possible/suitable routes, stops, timetables, vehicles suitable for the task.
ULLBAGGE-NOMINATED PROJECT
The project is nominated for a ULLBAGGE 2019 by LAG Sjö, Skog & Fjäll, in the category Smart Villages!
LAG board's justification
This project in pre-study form has exemplary involvement from all three sectors, namely both the non-profit, business, and public sectors, and it works in a Leader-like manner. The applicant has heeded LAG's wishes in the strategy that research should be included to a greater extent, and it is justified to include it in the project. The project is urgent as it actively explores whether it is possible to find new, better ways to coordinate transport. The pre-study has a model value and can promote community development, and is prioritized there
