Short film Storsjöodjuret

In the project, a short film is produced that explores friendship, mysticism, and the unique culture surrounding the Storsjöodjuret, told in the Jämtland language. We want to create a warm and visually appealing story that highlights the local mythology. The support from Leader is used for recording/production in Östersund and Åre municipality. The project will be carried out with the support of Leader Grogrund, Region Jämtland Härjedalen, and the EU – an initiative that strengthens the film culture in the region and preserves our cultural heritage.

LAG board's justification

Through the short film Storsjöodjuret, the project promotes young entrepreneurship within cultural and creative industries, focusing on friendship, mysticism, and the unique mystique of the Storsjöodjuret – told in Jämtland. The film contributes to a more multifaceted image of the countryside and strengthens young people's pride in their hometowns. Furthermore, the LAG board sees the film as a valuable discussion material for the county's schools.”
