Sonfjället
About the project
The project is a further development of the pre-study conducted during 2016-2017 about building a visitor center in the Sonfjäll region. We will create an experience room in the Sonfjäll region to showcase Sonfjället and its national park, our nature, environment, and culture. Internationally, it is called a Visitor Center. The center will be open year-round. The facilities will be adapted for the purpose and be accessible to all. A gathering space for at least 25 people will be created, where presentations, lectures, and similar activities can take place. Information will be available in more languages than just Swedish. The Experience Center will have sales, services, and catering for visitors, which will lead to more job opportunities/entrepreneurs. We will charge for guided tours and activities. There is an opportunity for entrepreneurs to sell complementary activities.
LAG board's justification
This project is prioritized by LAG within the intervention area that focuses on creating and making attractive and dynamic nature and cultural environments accessible. A Nature Center, or equivalent activity, complements existing and new activities in the same building but outside the project. Together, a hub is created in the community. A knowledge center and a meeting place for residents and visitors. The Nature Center activity will make local services available in the form of guiding, and the activity will create new job opportunities.
