The Pilgrim's Trail
MTB

About the project

The project is based on the Pilgrimsleden Romboleden, where an outstanding mountain experience is mixed with rich storytelling about Romboleden and Lofsdalen. The lack of signage and accessible paths to Våffelstugan has meant that they can only open during the winter. By upgrading existing trails and creating new paths where we can showcase unique nature with information signs that tell a fascinating story, a true nature experience is created in Lofsdalen. The trail will be a combined cycling and hiking path where we can meet the increased demand from the public for cycling trails and make the mountains accessible by bike. The trail will be available to the public and contribute to an increased interest in Lofsdalen as a cycling destination. By offering cycling and hiking trails on the southern side of Lofssjön, our hope is that the businesses in Lofsdalen will be able to develop their operations to include a year-round offering even on the southern side. LAG board's justification

LAG chooses to prioritize this application, which is expected to lead to enhanced collaboration between associations and businesses, and an enhanced summer season with several new opportunities. Residents and visitors will both benefit from the new trail, and the opportunity is also given to increase competence in trail building as well as storytelling related to the Pilgrimsleden that partially runs along the same stretch. The project is expected to ultimately lead to several new job opportunities.
