Post-Johan's road
About the project
Southern Årefjällen Tourism has developed a larger strategic and operational plan for ecological, social, and economic sustainability for housing and the visitor industry. This leader project concerns two of their focus areas: The mountain experience begins when you step off the train in Undersåker, and A sustainable trail system with joint trail management.
The purpose of the project is to create a trail from Undersåkers station via Trillevallen, Ottsjö, Ridvadet to the Vålådalen area that makes it possible to hike, run, cycle, ride, and ski directly from the station and between the villages. The trail will relieve the nature reserve by offering authentic mountain experiences right when you step off the platform. Thus, profitability in the visitor industry is increased and leads to more job opportunities with sustainability ecologically, socially, and economically for housing and the visitor industry.
LAG board's justification
LAG chooses to prioritize this project, which fits within the intervention area Attractive and dynamic nature and cultural environments. LAG is attracted by the innovation of offering visitors arriving by train the opportunity to step off the train and directly onto the trail. The project aims to promote long-term sustainable tourism and takes the issue of sustainable resource use seriously.
